Sonia holds a Master’s degree in environment engineering from University of Maryland at College Park (USA), a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Chandigarh (India), and an Executive Diploma in Urban Management Tools for Climate Change from the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands). She has also contributed extensively to knowledge development, skill building programs and initiatives.
As Senior Advisor to the Vice President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development at ADB, Sonia provides strategic policy and technical advice to the development of knowledge solutions, research and analytical work to support ADBs operations. As senior environment and climate change specialist in ADB’s Southeast Asia Urban and Water Division, she led the innovative “GrEEEn” Cities Initiative for balanced urban transformation. This enabled a robust country dialogue and a significant investment business line for strategic urban green growth in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.
