Funded by Yayasan Sime Darby, the Eco-Schools Programme in Malacca encourages the students to take an active role in environmental protection by promoting sustainability practices within their schools and communities. The initiative has seen significant success, with participating schools demonstrating outstanding dedication and commitment to cultivating environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow.

Ms. Santha Kumari Panchan, Head of Finance & Admin of Yayasan Sime Darby, commented on the award, saying:

“This Strategic Partner award is a reflection of the trust we place in our valued partners like GGAF. At YSD, we believe in the power of education to inspire real change. Our investment in the Eco-Schools Programme is part of our commitment to nurture a generation that is well-equipped to tackle any environmental challenges. We deeply value our partnership with GGAF, whose vision aligns closely with ours and we look forward to continuing our work together to build a sustainable future for Malaysia.”

The recognition celebrates the collaboration between Yayasan Sime Darby and Green Growth Asia Foundation. Their joint efforts have laid the foundation for long-term sustainability education to the schools in Malacca. The partnership was built on a shared vision and continues to create opportunities for thousands of students to engage with environmental issues from an early age.

Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Mahadi Mohamad, Executive Director of Green Growth Asia Foundation, expressed his appreciation for the recognition:

“This award is a tribute to the incredible synergy between GGAF and YSD. Without their steadfast belief in our mission and their generous support, the Eco-Schools Programme would not have reached the level of success it enjoys today. Together, we are not only educating young minds but also cultivating a culture of environmental leadership that will resonate for generations to come. We treasure this partnership deeply and look forward to many more milestones ahead.”

The Anugerah Hijau Melaka 2024, organised by Perbadanan Teknologi Hijau Melaka (PTHM), celebrates and acknowledges individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to promoting green technology and sustainability practices in Malacca. GGAF and YSD’s recognition as strategic partners conveys the importance of their work in advancing environmental education.

The Eco-Schools Programme—which is part of the broader global Eco-Schools framework—continues to expand its reach, inspiring schools across Malaysia to create sustainable solutions within their communities. The programme’s core focus is to instill an early understanding of ecological challenges thereby equipping the next generation to lead with environmentally conscious principles.
