On 30th and 31st March, GGAF and WWF-Malaysia organised a Mini-Conference on Turtles and Plastic at the Isma Beach Resort,
Pengkalan Balak, Melaka. The aim of the conference was to inspire and empower youth to become independent and proactive stewards of the environment through exposure to the turtle ecosystem and to understand the impact of plastic on sea turtles. A total of 30 students and 10 teachers participated in this conference which has successfully built a momentum for the implementation of zero plastic waste in schools. Participating students then wrote articles pledging their commitment to reducing plastic waste in their daily life, as they understood and witnessed how harmful plastic can be on marine animals such as the turtle.
