The YRE COMPETITION 2024 (Category III),organized by GGAF and Sunway University, is happening this May 2024 until September 2024.
About YRE
Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is an international programme operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the world’s largest environmental education organisation. The programme, which has active members from 77 countries, provides an opportunity for young people to discuss environmental issues using writing, photography, or videography. Based on that, this programme also empowers young people to gain knowledge and take a stand on environmental issues that involve themselves and the communities they live in.

Green Growth Asia Foundation, known as GGAF, is a civil society organization based in Melaka, Malaysia, that specializes in the advocacy, localization and realization of United Nations sustainable development agendas through mental reengineering in the area of education, social and inter-level cooperation — ahead of the critical milestones for humanity, the decade of action 2030. The Foundation remains committed to realizing a sustainable future for Malaysia and the Asia region by leveraging on approaches that are uniquely ours-project-centric, knowledge-based and collaborative, as we firmly move forward with a focused agenda, espousing the learning, the science and the implementation of individual climate action.
SUNWAY UNIVERSITY

Sunway University is one of Malaysia’s leading private universities located in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. It is relatively young by global standards, but is already ranked within the top 2% of universities in the world. The University offers a wide range of industry-relevant business, science, and technology programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The University also engages in research collaborations with leading international universities including joint research centres. The University publishes textbooks and research books through Sunway University Press which is a leading academic publisher in the region.

THE CATEGORIES
The YRE programme is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which emphasise a holistic approach that can be practised by local communities to achieve sustainable development by presenting initiatives in addressing environmental issues in their community. Participants are encouraged to examine the relationship between the creation of their work and one or more themes of the SDGs before determining the topics to be reported on. There are three (3) main themes for the creation of creative journalism works namely:
